FAMILY THEME: FRIENDSHIP

A FAITHFUL FRIEND

I Samuel 20

There is perhaps no greater story of friendship in the 

Bible than that of Jonathan and David. Their unlikely

friendship shows us what a faithful friendship looks like. 

1.  True Friends Listen and Respond

     (I Samuel 20:1-15)

     While Jonathan did not believe Saul wanted to

     kill David, he listened and helped his friend

     develop a plan of action.

 
2.  True Friends Love Selflessly

     (I Samuel 20:16-17) 

     Jonathan was not just on David's side; he was 

     against David's enemies too.

 
3.  True Friends Defend and Support One Another

     (I Samuel 20:19-42)

     Saul's actions demonstrated that David would

     would never be safe in the king's presence.
