FAMILY THEME: GOD IS UNCHANGING

Numbers 23:18-20 ; 25-27 ;  Jeremiah 18:5-11 ; 2 Timothy 2:8-13 ;

James 1:16-18 ; Hebrews 6:13-20 ; Genesis 12:1-3 ; Exodus 3:13-15 ; Lamentations 3:21-26

God is eternal, unchanging, and faithful.

1.  God's Unchanging Nature Means He Cannot Be Manipulated

     (Numbers 23:18-20 ; 25-27 ;  Jeremiah 18:5-11)

Balak, king of Moab, and Balaam, the prophet, learned that
God never needs to change His mind.

2.  God's Unchanging Nature Means He Cannot Lie

     (2 Timothy 2:8-13 ; James 1:16-18 ; Hebrews 6:13-20)

God will do exactly as He declared. He never says or
does anything that is not true to His nature.

3.  God's Unchanging Nature Means He Cannot Fail

     (Genesis 12:1-3 ; Exodus 3:13-15 ; Lamentations 3:21-26)

Even though humans have limitations and failures, God
will never fail. He is consistent and sufficient.

FAMILY THEME: GOD IS SOVEREIGN

Deuteronomy 10:17-22 ; 1 Timothy 6:13-16 ; Isaiah 46:5-13 ; Acts 4:23-31 ; Psalm 97:1-12 ; Jeremiah 23:23-24 ; Jonah 1:1-10

God sovereignly reigns through the expression of His natural attributes.

1.  God Rules With Absolute Authority (Omnipotence)

     (Deuteronomy 10:17-22 ; 1 Timothy 6:13-16)

God is above and supersedes every authority because He
is unlike any other being in existence.

2.  God Rules With Absolute Knowledge (Omniscience)

     (Isaiah 46:5-13 ; Acts 4:23-31)

Unlike false gods and belief systems, God knows all things and
has the power to bring His plans to fruition.

3.  God Rules With Absolute Totality (Omnipresence)

     (Psalm 97:1-12 ; Jeremiah 23:23-24 ; Jonah 1:1-10)

God is God everywhere, over everything, and over
everyone. His glory extends throughout creation.

FAMILY THEME: GOD IS HOLY

Exodus 15:1-21 ; Revelation 4:8-11 ; 1 Samuel 2:1-3 ; Isaiah 5:13-25 ; Joshua 24:19-28 ; Ezekiel 39:1-24 ; Leviticus 19:1-4 ; Psalm 99 ; Proverbs 9:7-12 ; 1 Peter 1:14-21

God's holiness is foundational to our respect and worship.

1.  God is Distinct From All Others

     (Exodus 15:1-21 ; Revelation 4:8-11)

God is unique: He is separate and distinct from
     everything else.

2.  God is Perfect

     (1 Samuel 2:1-3 ; Isaiah 5:13-25 ; Joshua 24:19-28 ; Ezekiel 39:1-24)

God's omniscience, purity, and flawless wisdom
determine that He always does what is right.

3.  God Alone is Worthy of Worship

     (Leviticus 19:1-4 ; Psalm 99 ; Proverbs 9:7-12 ; 1 Peter 1:14-21)

Our conduct and our worship should reflect the
     holiness of God.

FAMILY THEME: GOD IS LOVE

1 John 4:7-19 ; Psalm 40:1-17 ; Ephesians 2:1-10 ;

Romans 5:6-11 ; John 3:16-17

God's very nature is love, and His actions demonstrate what
love is like.

1.  God is Love

     (1 John 4:7-19)

God does not decide to love. He is love. He defines
love by His nature. We only know love as a concept
because God has made Himself known to us.

2.  God Loves Us

     (Psalm 40:1-17)

We need to view all God does through the lens of
     His love for us.

3.  God Demonstrates Love

     (Ephesians 2:1-10 ; Romans 5:6-11 ; John 3:16-17)

True love wants what is really best for another. We can
know what love is through knowing God.
