FAMILY THEME: GOOD WORKS

DO GOOD BECAUSE HE IS GOOD

Titus 3:1-15

While good works are not the basis or means of our salvation,
they are a product of our salvation. Paul instructed Titus on the
importance of good works.

1.  Christians are Good Citizens and Good Neighbors

     (Titus 3:1-2)

Believers are to be ready to do good works at every
     opportunity.

2.  We Do Good for Others Because of What God Has Done for Us

     (Titus 3:3-8)

Jesus saved us and gave us His Spirit and new life.

3.  Good Works are About What We Do and What We Don't Do

     (Titus 3:9-15)

Believers should devote themselves to doing what is good
     and helpful, meeting people's needs.

FAMILY THEME: SOUND DOCTRINE

TRUTH YOU CAN LIVE BY

Titus 2:1-15

Doctrine refers to teaching. Something that is sound is
healthy. So "sound doctrine" is healthy or accurate
teaching. In his letter to the young pastor, Titus, the
apostle Paul was quite clear about the importance of
sound doctrine in the church.

1.  Sound Doctrine Guides Our Behavior

     (Titus 2:1-8)

Paul instructed Titus to teach men and women of
all ages to live in ways that conform to sound
     doctrine.

2.  Sound Doctrine Teaches Us Submission

     (Titus 2:9-10)

Even bondservants (slaves) who followed Christ
were to be subject to their masters.

3.  Sound Doctrine Keeps Our Focus on Christ and His Return

     (Titus 2:11-15)

Looking forward to Christ's return helps us reject sin.

FAMILY THEME: SOUND FAITH

FAITH YOU CAN COUNT ON

Titus 1:1-16

Titus was Paul's friend, fellow worker, and missionary partner.
Titus was leading the church on the island of Crete when Paul
wrote this letter to him. As a young pastor, Titus needed to
learn the importance of building the church on sound faith.

1.  Sound Faith Rests on the Truth of God's Word

     (Titus 1:1-4)

God has revealed the truth of the gospel in His Word.

2.  Qualified Leaders Teach and Model Sound Faith

     (Titus 1:5-9)

God's design is for qualified leaders to model a godly
lifestyle and sound faith to others.

3.  Sound Faith Must Be Protected

     (Titus 1:10-16)

False teaching and worldly philosophies can damage
people's faith. The church and her leaders cannot
     tolerate false doctrine.

     God had given him.

2.  Be Faithful to the Finish

     (2 Timothy 4:6-8)

Paul realized his life was coming to an end and declared
that he had kept the faith.

3.  Trust the Lord to be Faithful to You

     (2 Timothy 4:9-18)

Paul gave powerful testimony to the way the Lord had
     strengthened him.

FAMILY THEME: OBEDIENCE

HANGING TOUGH IN TOUGH TIMES

2 Timothy 3:1-15

Paul pulled no punches. Before the return of Christ, believers
will face difficult days. However, the apostle also pointed his
readers to the Source of strength during such times.

1.  Difficult Days are Coming

     (2 Timothy 3:1-9)

Paul declared that times would become increasingly difficult
     as we await Christ's return.

2.  Believers Will Suffer Persecution

     (2 Timothy 3:10-13)

As he preached the gospel, Paul experienced persecution
in many cities such as Antioch (Acts 13:45, 50), Iconium
(Acts 14:1-5), and Lystra (Acts 14:19).

3.  God Has Provided All We Need to Stand Firm

     (2 Timothy 3:14-17)

Despite persecution, followers of Christ are to continue to
stand firm in faith and obedience.
