We will be taking a bus and going to dinner first (separate cost). Baptists gotta eat! :-)
Don't miss the fun!
Also, next Saturday (same day) at 11:00 is the baby shower for the highly anticipated

FAMILY THEME:  RESURRECTION

ABUNDANT EVIDENCE

Luke 24:1-53

This chapter tells us about the pivotal event of human history- the Resurrection.

1.  Remember His Words (Luke 24:1-12)
Arriving at the tomb, the women noticed a disturbance and looked inside
where no body was to be found.

2.  Study the Scripture  (Luke 24:13-35)
Jesus explained the Old Testament Scriptures, revealing how they speak
     of Him.

3.  Praise Him
(Luke 24:36-53
The disciples worshiped Jesus and went back home in a spirit of praise.

Our Deepest Sympathies...

Another Angel has gained her wings...
our prayers and Christian sympathies to
our "Party Planner"...
"Heaven just keeps getting sweeter all the time."

D6: week of 3/24

FAMILY THEME:  PRIORITIES

WORRY IS A WASTE

Matthew 6:19-34

Jesus explained the futility of worry.

1.  Invest Your Treasure in Heaven (Matthew 6:19-21)
If a person treasures eternal things his holdings will be immune from those
     that destroy.

2.  Keep Your Eyes Open to Kingdom Priorities  (Matthew 6:22-24)
Devotion can be given to only one master, not two. Jesus gave no room for
     defending half-heartedness to both.

3.  Seek God's Kingdom and He Will Meet All Your Needs
(Matthew 6:25-34)
Being overly concerned with earthly matters places one on par with those
     who have rejected God.

D6: week of 3/17

FAMILY THEME:  PRAYER

PRAYER MODELED

Matthew 6:5-15

In this iconic passage, Jesus taught His disciples how to pray.

1.  Pray to Be Heard by God, Not Men (Matthew 6:5-8)
Jesus drew a contrast between praying to be seen and praying without fanfare.

2.  Pray According to Jesus' Priorities  (Matthew 6:9-13)
This model is offered in the wake of the admonitions about prayer.

3.  Forgive Others as Christ Has Forgiven You
  (Matthew 6:14-15)
If we are not willing to forgive others, it may indicate we have not yet recognized
     our own need of forgiveness.

Just a few wise quotes...

A few wise quotes from this morning's service:

"What matters is not the duration of your life, but the donation of your life."

"One of my purposes in life is to serve God by serving others."

"God made you the way you are so you can do what He wants you to do."

"The greatest ability is availability and without availability any ability is wasted ability."

"Ministry is not what you have to do for God, it's what you opt to do."

Selah.
("Think about that...")

D6: week of 3/10

FAMILY THEME:  KINGDOM LAW

TROUBLE WITH THE LAW

Matthew 5:17-48

The Law governed every aspect of Jewish life, but Jesus explained its true meaning.

1.  Obeying God is Hard: Obey Anyway! (Matthew 5:17-30)
Jesus declared that His Jewish listeners would have to do better than their
religious leaders and teachers to be part of the kingdom of God.

2.  Integrity is Inconvenient: Show It Anyway!  (Matthew 5:31-37)
Jesus loved the truth the Law taught and hated the abuses manipulated by man.

3.  People Will Take Advantage of You: Love Them Anyway!
  (Matthew 5:38-48)
Jesus said His disciples should love and pray for friends and enemies alike.

D6: week of 3/3

FAMILY THEME:  KINGDOM LIVING

MORE THAN HAPPY

Matthew 5:1-16

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus began to explain what it means

to live in His kingdom.

1.  Cultivate God's Values and Be Blessed (Matthew 5:1-6)
Jesus described the attitudes He wanted to develop in His followers.

2.  Treat Others With God's Values and Be Blessed  (Matthew 5:7-12)
Each of these beautiful attitudes is accompanied by a blessings.

3.  Shine, Do Good, and Impact Others to Glorify God
  (Matthew 5:13-16)
Without these qualities, our value as an influence for God is diminished.
