FAMILY THEME: A SONG FOR JUSTICE

Psalm 109:1-31

King David knew what it was to have enemies. He also knew
Whom to go to for help with his enemies.

1.  We Will Sometimes Face Opposition or Betrayal

     (Psalm 109:1-5)

David's enemies had attacked him with their words.

2.  Pray for God's Righteous Justice on the Wicked

     (Psalm 109:6-20)

David prayed for God to execute justice on his enemy.

3.  Prayer, Trust, and Praise Are Our Best Response
     to Verbal Attack

     (Psalm 109:21-31)

David poured out his feelings, hurt, discouragement,
     and need to God.

FAMILY THEME: A SONG OF PRAISE

Psalm 103:1-22

We can, and should praise God for all that He's done in us,
through us, and for us.

1.  Praise God for His blessings in Our Own Lives

     (Psalm 103:1-5)

The psalmist wanted to bless God for all He had done in
him, for him, and through him.

2.  Praise God for Making Grace, Forgiveness, and
Redemption Available to All Who Trust Him

     (Psalm 103:6-12)

God's work in the past provided the foundation and
resources for the psalmist's personal experience
     with grace.

3.  Praise God for His Knowledge of and Patience
     Toward Us

     (Psalm 103:13-22)

God loves and cares for His people as a father
     cares for his children.

FAMILY THEME: A SONG OF ENDURING LOVE

Psalm 89

God's absolute faithfulness is one reason we worship Him.

1.  Our Loving God is Great and Powerful

     (Psalm 89:1-18)

The psalmist begins by pouring out praise because of
     God's power seen throughout history.

2.  Our Loving God's Discipline in Our Lives Does Not
Nullify His Faithfulness to His Promises

     (Psalm 89:19-37)

The psalmist struggled to reconcile God's promises
     with God's discipline.

3.  Our Loving God Disciplines His Children for Their Good

     (Psalm 89:38-52)

All of God's promises are certain, even the promise
     of discipline.

FAMILY THEME: A SONG FOR THE KING

Psalm 72:1-20

The coming rule and reign of Jesus move us to worship.

1.  Our King's Reign Will Be Righteous

     (Psalm 72:1-4)

The truth the psalmist presented is that our King's reign -
His actions, decisions, and judgments - will be right!

2.  Our King's Reign Will Be Eternal

     (Psalm 72:5-7)

Our King's reign is stable, certain, and unending. He will
never abdicate, be fired, or be overthrown!

3.  Our King's Reign Will Be Universal

     (Psalm 72:8-11)

All kings and all their subjects will bow down before the
     eternal King of the world!

4.  Our King's Reign Will Be Benevolent and Glorious

     (Psalm 72:12-20)

All the King's subjects will experience God's goodness,
    and praise and glorify Him.
