Lesson for Today

Although Jim and Lori were sorely missed this morning, Jon Slayden did an awesome job teaching!

The focus was on praying, as Jesus taught in Matthew 6:5-15 :
Verse 5 tells us what not to do and emphasizes the importance of being genuine
Verse 6 tells us what to do that brings us closer to our Heavenly Father
Verse 7 emphasizes simplicity and not being ritualistic
Verse 8 shows that there is nothing new to God; we just show Him how much we trust Him when we pray
Verses 9-13 show us how to pray: we worship first, balance boldness with respect, submit to His will, be repentant and expectant
Verses 14-15 show that we need to be forgiving as we have been forgiven

Today's Teachings

Truth applies to everyone:
* We reap what we sow.
* We reap more than what we sow.
* We reap later than what we sow.

Key verses: Gal. 6:7-8; Num. 32:33; Ez. 18:20; I Cor. 15:58; II Cor. 11:23-28; Gal. 6: 9-10; Is. 5: 8, 20

We may not be rewarded here on earth.
We need to stand up and live the life we should.
We need to speak up when the opportunity arises.
We need to cry out to God to change our country.
