FAMILY THEME: ETERNAL LIFE

BREAD THAT SATISFIES

John 6:25-58

When Jesus said, "I am the bread of life," He was
challenging everything the people thought they
knew about Him and about God.

1.  We Must Pursue Jesus, Not Merely His Miracles
     (John 6: 25-34)
The people misunderstood the point of Christ's miracles.

2.  We Must Believe in the Son, Not Merely the Man
     (John 6:35-42)
It's not enough to believe that a good man named Jesus
lived; we must believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

3.  Our Faith in Jesus Must Go Beyond the Surface
     (John 6:43-58)
Jesus intends His followers to have an intimate
     connection to Him.

FAMILY THEME: RESURRECTION

DEAD MAN RISING

John 20:1-21 ; 11:17-27

Nothing demonstrated the power of Jesus more than the
Resurrection. Through it He demonstrated that death isn't
final and we can have hope of eternal life.

1.  Christ's Resurrection is Empirical Fact - Believe It!
     (John 20: 1-9)
Mary, Peter, and John saw something amazing: the
     tomb was empty.

2.  Christ's Resurrection is Good News - Share It!
     (John 20:10-21)
Jesus first told Mary Magdalene and then His disciples
     to go tell others.

3.  Christ's Resurrection is a Precursor to Our Own - Receive It!
     (John 11:17-27)
Whoever follows Jesus will live again, even if he or she dies
     physically.

FAMILY THEME: FAITHFULNESS

THE UNFAITHFUL TENANTS

Matthew 21:33-46

Jesus used the parable of the unfaithful tenants to give
perspective to Israel's rejection of God's messengers
and their imminent rejection of His Son. He also outlined
the importance of faithfulness and the dangers of not
bearing fruit.

1.  Faithfulness is Listening to God's Servants
     (Matthew 21: 33-36)
This parable represents how Israel did not want to
hear God's message so they rejected the messengers.

2.  Faithfulness is Loving God's Son
     (Matthew 21:37-42)
Jesus, though generally rejected by the religious
leaders, is the foundation upon which God's kingdom
     is being built.

3.  Faithfulness is Living to Produce Kingdom Fruit
     (Matthew 21:43-46)
The kingdom of God would be given to those who
     bear its fruit.

FAMILY THEME: GRACE

THE GRACIOUS GIFT OF GOD

Matthew 20:1-16

Jesus paralleled God's grace with that of a gracious farmer.

1.  God Extends a Gracious Invitation
     (Matthew 20: 1-7)
The common denominator among the workers is that
they all were invited to work.

2.  God Promises a Gracious Reward
     (Matthew 20:8-9)
How long each person worked proved completely
     irrelevant to what he received.

3.  God Expects a Gracious Response
     (Matthew 20:10-16)
All who trust Christ are graciously given salvation, no
matter when they come to Christ.
