Naomi returned to Israel in need of a redeemer.

2.  God Has a Plan for Redemption  (Ruth 2-3)
God guided Ruth to just the right field to provide a redeemer.

3.  Jesus Makes Redemption a Reality
  (Ruth 4)
Ruth's connection to David and then to Christ is not coincidental.

FAMILY THEME:  GOD'S PURPOSE

STRONG MUSCLES, WEAK SPIRIT

Judges 13-16

God use Samson greatly, but not as much as He could have if

Samson had been more obedient.

1.  God Has a Purpose for Us Before We Are Even Born (Judges 13)
The angel of the Lord announced the birth of a son who would begin
to deliver Israel from the Philistines.

2.  God Has a Purpose for Us Even When We Go Astray  (Judges 14)
God used even Samson's foolish choices for His own purposes.

3.  God Can Fulfill His Purpose in Spite of Our Enemies
  (Judges 15)
In spite of his flaws and Philistine opposition, God used Samson to
     accomplish His will.

4.  Sin Will Prevent Us From Fulfilling God's Purpose (Judges 16)
Samson's sensual lifestyle brought about his downfall.

     to him.

Gideon issued a call to arms throughout the smaller northern tribes.

D6: Week of 2/3

FAMILY THEME:  CORRUPTION

BAD APPLES IN THE BARREL
Judges 2-3

Just one generation after arriving in the Promised Land,

Israel began to turn away from God.

1.  Corruption Begins When a Generation Fails (Judges 2:1-15)
The older generation failed to pass on their faith to the younger
     generation.

2.  Generational Failure Has Long-Term Consequences  (Judges 2:16-3:6)
Israel followed a repetitive cycle of failure, consequences,
repentance, liberation, and back to failure.

3.  Even In a Corrupt Generation There Is Hope in God
  (Judges 3:7-31)
God worked on Israel's behalf despite their rebellion and idolatry.
