FAMILY THEME: THE KING'S RETURN

Matthew 24:1-44

Jesus promised that He would come again to judge the world.

1.  Christ's Second Coming Will Follow Great Worldwide Tribulation

     (Matthew 24:1-22)

We should anticipate and prepare for the struggles to come.

2.  Christ's Second Coming Will Follow Many False Teachers and
     Deceivers

     (Matthew 24:23-28)

We must be firm and clear on the teachings of Jesus and
measure all things by His Word.

3.  Christ's Second Coming Will Follow Signs, but the Exact
     Time is Unknown to Everyone

     (Matthew 24:29-44)

God has given us things to look for in His return, but also
called us to faithfully serve Him while we wait.

FAMILY THEME: THE KING'S COMMISSION

Matthew 28:16-20;  Acts 1:6-11

We have been commissioned to intentionally engage in spreading the
good news to all people in all places.

1.  Christ's Commission is to Make Disciples of Every People Group,
Teaching Them to Obey All of God's Word

     (Matthew 28:16-20)

We have been commissioned by God to make disciples as a
primary function of our lives in His service.

2.  Christ's Commission is to Witness Inclusively to All Nations

     (Acts 1:6-8)

God's desire is for all people to hear the gospel and for us
     to carry out that desire.

3.  Christ's Commission is Our Mission Until He Returns

     (Acts 1:9-11)

Christ will return to judge all men according to the gospel,
both on their belief in Him and faithfulness to His commands.

FAMILY THEME: THE RISEN KING

Matthew 28:1-15

Everything in our faith hinges on the Resurrection.

1.  Jesus' Resurrection Was Verified by an Empty Tomb

     (Matthew 28:1-6)

The only logical explanation for the empty tomb is the
     Resurrection of Jesus.

2.  Jesus' Resurrection Was Verified by His Physical Appearance

     (Matthew 28:7-10)

Our confidence is bolstered by the many that saw
and verified the bodily resurrection of Jesus.

3.  Jesus Rose From the Dead, Despite Those Who Claimed Otherwise

     (Matthew 28:11-15)

The failure of the efforts to cover up the Resurrection
only serves to intensify its truth and power.

FAMILY THEME: THE CRUCIFIED KING

Matthew 27:11-54

The sacrificial death of Jesus is the key to a right relationship with God
for sinful man.

1.  Jesus' Death Was the Innocent for the Guilty

     (Matthew 27:11-26)

Jesus' innocence made it possible for us to avoid receiving
     the punishment we deserve.

2.  Jesus' Death Was Marked by Suffering, Rejection, and Ridicule

     (Matthew 27:27-50)

Jesus endured unimaginable suffering to bring about
     the hope of our salvation.

3.  Jesus' Death Gives Us Access to God's Presence

     (Matthew 27:51-54)

Jesus settled our account with God and enables us to know
Him in a personal way as Father.

FAMILY THEME: THE HUMBLE KING

Matthew 21:1-11

In humbling Himself, Jesus demonstrated His worthiness to be worshiped.

1.  Jesus Fulfilled Old Testament Prophecy, Coming as Both Humble
     Human and Exalted King

     (Matthew 21:1-5)

In order to be the true Savior of the world, Jesus had to be both
     human and devine.

2.  Jesus Rode a Donkey to Show His Humble Humanity

     (Matthew 21:6-8)

Jesus comes to us in a manner that encourages us to approach
     Him.

3.  Jesus Accepted Worship as Lord and King

     (Matthew 21:9-11)

Jesus left no doubt that He is the one true King.
