FAMILY THEME: MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD

Genesis 1:27 ; Romans 5:12-21

We were created in the image of God, but sin mars that image.
Christ redeems us, helping restore that image.

1.  We Were Created in God's Image as Male or Female

     (Genesis 1:27)

We were created in God's image to be in relationship
with Him and each other according to His design.

2.  Sin Changed Everything

     (Romans 5:12 ; Romans 1:18-32)

Sin entered the world and changed our genes, brains,
and relationships, but we are still called to resist temp-
     tation and pursue godliness.

3.  Christ Redeems Us, Helping Us Reflect God's Design
     in Gender and Sexuality

     (Romans 5:14-21)

God provided a solution, sending His Son to die and
     restore man's relationship with God.

FAMILY THEME: GOD'S DESIGN

Matthew 19:4-6 ; Genesis 2:18

The Father intentionally crafted us as His image-bearers to function
in certain ways. Those ways are right and good for us.

1.  Jesus Confirmed God's Design for Gender and Marriage

     (Matthew 19:4-6)

We must submit to the reality that God's design for
gender and marriage is consistent and clear in Scripture.

2.  God's Design is Always Best

     (Genesis 2:18 ; 1 Corinthians 7:1-6)

When it comes to the way we live, we should trust the
     One Who designed us.

3.  Rejecting God's Design Leads to Detrimental Consequences

     (Matthew 19:6)

The Father's wisdom is the only truth. We must seek
     it in every way.

FAMILY THEME: GUARD YOUR HEART

Philippians 4:7-8 ; 2 Corinthians 10:1-6 ; 1 Corinthians 16:13

When it comes to sexual sin, we should be prepared to defend ourselves.

1.  We Must Guard Our Minds

     (Philippians 4:7-8)

Our minds are supposed to be crafted and renewed by God,
     not influenced by the devil.

2.  We Must Guard Our Attitudes and Actions

     (2 Corinthians 10:1-6)

Guarding how we act when it comes to sexual purity will put
us on the road to holiness.

3.  We Must Be On Guard Constantly

     (1 Corinthians 16:13)

Sexual temptation is essentially constant. There is never a
time when we should not be prepared to battle.

FAMILY THEME: BIBLICAL PURITY

1 Corinthians 6:12-20 ; Romans 12:1-2

As followers of Jesus, what we do with our bodies includes Jesus.

1.  Our Bodies are Meant to Be Temples of God's Spirit, Used for
His Glory, Not for Sexual Immorality

     (1 Corinthians 6:12-17)

Paul taught that because our bodies have been bought by
the Father, He is the one to decide how we use them.

2.  Our Bodies are Connected to Christ

     (1 Corinthians 6:15-20)

It is the Spirit of Christ that dwells in every believer of Christ.
In a very real sense, Christ abides in us.

3.  Our Bodies are Living Sacrifices for the Lord

     (Romans 12:1-2)

We are called to give to God what He already owns in
     Christ - our bodies.
