GNO Reminder

Rescheduled Girls Night Out is this Thursday, May 2nd!!

D6: week of 4/28

FAMILY THEME:  FORGIVENESS

AS OFTEN AS NECESSARY

Matthew 18:21-35

Jesus wants His disciples to follow His example of forgiveness.

1.  Forgive Without Keeping Score (Matthew 18:21-22)
There should be no limit to how many times we forgive someone.

2.  Forgive as God Has Forgiven You  (Matthew 18:23-27)
When the servant begged for time to pay, the king had compassion and
     cancelled the debt.

3.  No Mercy for the Merciless
(Matthew 18:28-35)
The forgiven servant refused to show the same mercy to a fellow servant
     who owed him money.

D6: week of 4/21

FAMILY THEME:  DISCIPLESHIP

LAYING IT ALL DOWN

Luke 14:25-33; 18:18-30

This week we look at two instances in which Jesus taught about the cost of discipleship.

1.  Count the Cost (Luke 14:25-33)
Jesus made it clear that becoming His follower entailed more than just walking
     around admiring Him.

2.  Give Your All  (Luke 18:18-27)
Many want to follow Christ on their own terms, but Jesus calls us to release
     everything and focus on Him.

3.  Expect Eternal Rewards
(Luke 18:28-30)
Jesus assured us that those who have sacrificed with the proper motives will be
     blessed in due time.

Reminder

There will be no Sunday School  this week due to Missions Conference. All classes 6th grade and up will meet in the Sanctuary.

D6: week of 4/14

FAMILY THEME:  AFTERLIFE

REAL AS IT GETS

Luke 16:19-31

The account of the rich man and Lazarus gives us a glimpse into the afterlife.

1.  Hell is Real (Luke 16:19-24)
The rich man was in torment while the poor man, Lazarus, was with Abraham
     being comforted.

2.  Hell is Final  (Luke 16:25-26)
The two men were separated by a great chasm or gulf and there was no way
to move from one place to another.

3.  Hell is Avoidable
(Luke 16:27-31)
The rich man thought of his five brothers and asked that Lazarus be sent to
     warn them.

D6: 4/7

FAMILY THEME:  DISCERNMENT

EYE EXAM

Matthew 7:1-29

Christ's most famous sermon continued as He taught His disciples to choose

the right path.

1.  Look in Before You Call Out (Matthew 7:1-6)
Jesus made the point that we often fail to notice our faults while we tend to
readily see the faults in others.

2.  Pray with Persistence  (Matthew 7:7-12)
Jesus urged His followers to be persistent in prayer - asking, seeking, and
     knocking.

3.  Choose Your Direction Wisely
(Matthew 7:13-29)
Jesus did not mince words when He called for His followers to make some
     choices.
