FAMILY THEME: HOLINESS

HOLY LIKE HIM

1 Peter 1:3-25

Through the work of Jesus Christ believers have received
the incorruptible gift of salvation. While the gift is great and
free, holiness is an expected part of a believer's life as he
or she grows in a relationship with the Father.

1.  In Christ, Believers Have an Indestructible Inheritance

     (1 Peter 1:3-9)

Christ's inheritance will stand through all time, with no
     fading, spoiling, or decay.

2.  Believers Have Greater Blessings Than Prophets and Angels

     (1 Peter 1:10-12)

The salvation the prophets spoke of is the salvation we
     have received.

3.  Believers Have Been Called to Holiness

     (1 Peter 1:13-25)

God always has intended for His people to be holy.

FAMILY THEME: ENDURANCE

IN FOR THE LONG HAUL

Hebrews 12

The writer of Hebrews encouraged believers to not only
start their races well but to finish well. He reminds us to
let go of the things that weigh us down and to run with
endurance.

1.  Endurance Begins with Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus

     (Hebrews 12:1-3)

It is crucial that believers remove any hindrances or
burdens that could weigh them down or hinder their
progress as they run their race.

2.  Endurance Requires Accepting God's Loving Discipline

     (Hebrews 12:4-17)

God disciplines His children when they go astray.

3.  Endurance Calls for a Proper Perspective

     (Hebrews 12:18-29)

A relationship was made available by the sacrifice of
Jesus, whose offering was better than anything else
     before or after.

FAMILY THEME: FAITH

CONFIDENT ASSURANCE

Hebrews 11

The writer of Hebrews gives a clear definition of faith and
provides the reader with examples of the faith of God's
people, often in the face of seemingly impossible
circumstances.

1.  Fath is Certainty Beyond Sight

     (Hebrews 11:1-6)

Faith gives substance and certainty to that which is
     invisible and intangible.

2.  Faith Acts When God Doesn't Seem to Make Sense

     (Hebrews 11:7-16)

Faith is seen through obedience even when we don't
     understand the reason.

3.  Faith Sustains Us When We Suffer and Are Mistreated

     (Hebrews 11:17-40)

The list of people who suffered yet continued to trust
     God by faith is lengthy.

FAMILY THEME: SANCTIFICATION

IN WITH THE NEW

Hebrews 10:1-25

Christ's sacrifice changes the believer's daily life as well
as his or her eternal destiny.

1.  We are Made Holy by Christ's One Sacrifice

     (Hebrews 10:1-14)

Christ's once-for-all sacrifice accomplished what was
     impossible under the Law.

2.  Our New Covenant is Written on Our Hearts

     (Hebrews 10:15-18)

The Holy Spirit testified that Christ's sacrifice allowed
God to remove sin for good for those under the new
     covenant.

3.  Common Faith Build Uncommon Community

     (Hebrews 10:19-25)

The emphasis on meeting together should increase
     until the return of Christ.
