FAMILY THEME: RIGHTEOUSNESS

RIGHTEOUS IN HIS SIGHT

Romans 3
Having explained that Jews and Gentiles are equally guilty
of sin and equal candidates for salvation (Romans 2),
Paul turned to address the objections of his Jewish
readers.
1.  Our Sin Proves God Is Righteous
     (Romans 3:1-8)
God is faithful even when sinners are not.

2.  Our Sin Proves We Are Unrighteous
     (Romans 3:9-20)
Quoting from Psalms 14 and 53, Paul demonstrated
that Scripture proves all people to be sinners and
incapable of earning salvation by keeping the law.

3.  Our Sin Is Remedied Through Faith In Christ
     (Romans 3:21-31)
All who have faith in Christ stand before a God Who is
     their Judge and their Defender.

D6: week of 12/22

FAMILY THEME: GOD'S SON

END ALL, BE ALL

Romans 1:1-6; Matthew 1:18 - 2:12
Jesus is the reason for...everything.

1.  Jesus is the Foundation of Our Ministry
     (Romans 1:1-6)
Paul's ministry and message were all about Jesus.
Christ is the focal point of the gospel.

2.  Jesus is the Way We Connect with God
     (Matthew 1:18-25)
The angel referred to Jesus as Immanuel, which
     means "God with us".

3.  Jesus is the Object of Our Worship
     (Matthew 2:1-12)
Drawn by the unique star they had seen, the wise
men came looking for Jesus. They searched,
     found, and worshiped Him.

D6: week of 12/15

FAMILY THEME: JUDGMENT

JUSTICE SERVED

Romans 2:1-29
God will judge the world with His unyielding standard of
righteousness.

1.  People Will Be Judged for Their Response to God's Truth
     (Romans 2:1-11)
God will judge according to what people have done, not
     according to race or nationality.

2.  Both Jews and Gentiles Will Be Judged for Sin
     (Romans 2:12-16)
God gave mankind a conscience to help us know right
     from wrong.

3.  People Will Be Judged for Sin, Not Culture or Rituals
     (Romans 2:17-29)
The religious rituals of Judaism would not save on the
     day of judgment.

D6: week of 12/8

FAMILY THEME: DEPRAVITY

A DOWNWARD SPIRAL

Romans 1:16-32
Paul had never been to Rome, so he wrote a lengthy
letter - his longest in Scripture - to help Roman
believers understand the gospel. He began by showing
how man's rejection of God leads deeper into depravity.

1.  The Gospel of God is Depravity's Only Hope
     (Romans 1:16-17)
Only the Gospel has the power to change a person's
     heart.

2.  A Denial of God is Depravity's Inevitable Fruit
     (Romans 1:18-23)
God's righteousness can be refused and ignored,
     but it cannot be avoided.

3.  Abandonment by God is Depravity's Ultimate End
     (Romans 1:24-32)
God abandoned people to the corruption of their
     own choices. Freedom carries responsibility.

D6: week of 12/1

FAMILY THEME: SPIRITUAL WARFARE

THE ENEMY IS...

Acts 19:1-41
Sharing the gospel is spiritual warfare. Satan hates
the gospel and he will stir up opposition to it, everywhere
he can. This was never more obvious than when Paul took
the gospel to Ephesus.
1.  We Battle Against Ignorance About God
     (Acts 19:1-7)
These Ephesians' knowledge of God's truth contained
     important gaps.

2.  We Battle Against Spiritual and Physical Evil
     (Acts 19:8-22)
Spiritual opposition can take many forms.

3.  We Battle Against Volatile Enemies
     (Acts 19:23-41)
What began as a meeting of trademen and craftsmen
     soon turned into a riot.

Companion Class News

From our Party Planner:

Dec 15th, there is no PM service so that the classes can have a Christmas fellowship. I am encouraging you to come out (to the new Event Center/old sanctuary) for a pot luck dinner. We will eat and then get in groups for some caroling to shut ins and elderly. Do you know anyone who needs a "pick-me-up"? This will not work unless we have some good participation! Bring your kids, a dish and a home made loaf of bread, muffins, cookies, etc. to leave with the "Carol-ed". 6 pm.

We will not do an exchange of gifts but I want to ask EVERYONE to bring some hats, gloves, scarves or blankets for the homeless through Mission Tulsa. Can you even imagine being homeless in this weather?  We are blessed and need to show compassion to the less fortunate. the Dollar Tree and Dollar stores carry a selection of things.
