D6: week of 6/30

FAMILY THEME:  ENCOURAGEMENT

THE GOD OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Acts 18:1-28

Acts 18 illustrates three of the many ways God encourages

believers.

1.  Positive Responses to the Gospel (Acts 18:1-8)
Many responded to Paul's preaching by believing in
     Jesus and being saved.

2.  Precious Promises of God  (Acts 18:9-17)
God told Paul not to be afraid but to stay in Corinth.

3.  Faithful Servants of the Kingdom
(Acts 18:18-28)
God gave Paul several faithful coworkers for the ministry
     of the gospel.

FAMILY THEME:  THE UNKNOWN GOD

REVEALING THE UNKNOWN GOD

Acts 17:16-34

In Athens, Paul gave us a wonderful example of how to share the

gospel.

1.  We Must Make Him Known With Reasoned Arguments
     (Acts 17:16-21)
Paul was deeply troubled by the idolatry that had
overwhelmed the city, so he reached out to the people
     around him.

2.  We Must Make Him Known by Meeting People Where
     They Are  (Acts 17:22-28)
Paul connected with people as he shared the gospel
     with them.

3.  We Must Make Him Known by Calling for Repentance
     (Acts 17:29-34)
Paul did not hesitate to state the need for repentance.

FAMILY THEME:  RESPONSE TO THE WORD

ACCEPT OR REJECT: EVERYONE MUST CHOOSE

Acts 17:1-15

Paul's experiences at Thessalonica and Berea are good

examples of the various ways people respond to the gospel.

1.  When the Gospel is Preached, Some Will Be
     Persuaded (Acts 17:1-4)
Some of the Jews and many of the Gentiles were persuaded
by Paul's preaching and believed the gospel.

2.  When the Gospel is Preached, Some Will
      Oppose It  (Acts 17:5-9)
Some will always respond to gospel proclamation with
     rejection and enmity.

3.  When the Gospel is Preached, Some Will
     Investigate It Eagerly  (Acts 17:10-15)
Some people take time to investigate Scripture to see what
     is true.

D6: week of 6/9

FAMILY THEME:  FAITHFULNESS

DANGEROUS TIMES, FAITHFUL SERVANTS

Acts 16:11-40

God's call to Macedonia gave Paul and Silas many opportunities

to demonstrate faithfulness.

1.  Faithfulness in Mission (Acts 16:11-15)
Paul and the team were faithful in obeying what they saw as
     God's direction to Phillipi.

2.  Faithful in Spite of Opposition
(Acts 16:16-18)
Paul's faithfulness led him to command the spirit to leave
Lydia in the name of Jesus Christ.

3.  Faithfulness in Times of Persecution
(Acts 16:19-34)
God's servants remained faithful despite wrongful
imprisonment and being beaten with rods.

4.  Faithfulness in Vision (Acts 16:35-40)
Paul insisted on a release that would serve as a public
exoneration for the protection of the fledgling church.

Hands and Feet

June 8th, Saturday, we will be loading the buses and going to Moore to help with disaster relief and clean up. We will meet at church at 7:30 am and coming back in the evening. Please bring gloves, masks, shovels, sunscreen, wet wipes and anything else you might think of. Invite your friends, relatives, and folks from other classes to join us. Come let your hands and feet be used by Him!

D6: week of 6/2

FAMILY THEME:  THE WILL OF GOD

AGREE TO OBEY

Acts 15:36 - 16:10

The beginning of Paul's second missionary journey introduces

some important truths about God's will.

1.  We Can Disagree and Still Do God's Will (Acts 15:36-41)
Spirit-led believers can approach disagreement as an
opportunity into which God can introduce His own solution.

2.  God's Will Must Not Be Hindered by Cultural Offenses
     (Acts 16:1-5)
Without circumcision Timothy could have been an
unnecessary stumbling block to the Jews.

3.  God's Will May Include a "Go" and a "No"
(Acts 16:6-10)
We know it is God's will for His people to take the gospel
to all, but we do not know the precise schedule or roadmap
     He intends to use.
