FAMILY THEME: GOD PROVIDED A SACRIFICE

Genesis 22:1-19

Genesis 22 shows us Abraham's greatest test of faith.

1.  God Stretches Our Faith

     (Genesis 22:1-2)

This was a God-ordained test for Abraham's benefit (not God's)
to grow his faith and set an example for believers in all places
      and times.

2.  Faith Takes Us Beyond Our Comfort Zone

     (Genesis 22:3-10)

Abraham's faith in God took him to a place he didn't want to go,
to do something he didn't want to do.

3.  God Will Provide

     (Genesis 22:11-19)

God sees beyond what we are capable of and He provides
     according to His perfect plan.

FAMILY THEME: GOD'S COVENANT

Genesis 12:1-9;  15:1-6

Abraham is called the father of faith because he believed God
about some big promises. Genesis 12 reveals to us God's call
of Abraham and his response to faith.

1.  God Had a Special Promise for Abraham

     (Genesis 12:1-9)

God made specific and incredible promises to Abraham.

2.  Abraham Tried to Fix God's Plan

     (Genesis 15:1-5)

When God's promises weren't fulfilled right away, Abraham
had some ideas of his own.

3.  Abraham Believed God

     (Genesis 15:6)

Despite any doubts he may have had, Abraham trusted God.

FAMILY THEME: GOD SCATTERED THE PEOPLE

Genesis 11:1-9

How did the human race that sprang from one family become so
divided? Where did all the languages of the world originate? These
questions are answered in Genesis 11.

1.  The Heart of Man is Self-Serving

     (Genesis 11:1-4)

Noah's descendants were commanded to spread out and
     fill the earth.

2.  God's Approach May Seem Chaotic

     (Genesis 11:5-7)

God sometimes uses disorder and things that are troubling
to us to bring about His will.

3.  God's Will is Non-Negotiable

     (Genesis 11:8-9)

There is assurance in knowing that God's plans will come
to pass no matter how far sinful man drifts away from His
      will.

FAMILY THEME: GOD DELIVERED JUDGMENT & GRACE

Genesis 7:11 -  8:22

Just as the Flood showed God's commitment to judge sin, God's
deliverance of Noah and his family shows His commitment to save
those who respond to Him in faith-filled obedience.

1.  God Protects Us According to His Will

     (Genesis 7:11-16)

Noah and his family believed God and as a result were saved
from the Flood through the ark of His grace.

2.  God Remembers Us and Keeps His Promises

     (Genesis 7:17  -  8:1)

God sent the Flood and killed every living creature that wasn't
     in His ark.

3.  God Blesses Us With His Goodness

     (Genesis 8:2-22)

After two months God called Noah and his family, along with all
the animals, out onto the dry ground.

FAMILY THEME: NOAH OBEYED GOD

Genesis 6:5-22;  7:1-5

By the time of Noah humanity had become so corrupt that God would
destroy the world in judment. Yet even in the midst of great wickedness
there was a man who found grace in the sight of God - Noah. Noah's
faith in God led him to obey God and be saved from the judgment to
come.

1.  God Grieves Over Humanity's Wickedness

     (Genesis 6:5-7)

God is emotionally invested in mankind so when we resort to evil
thoughts and actions, it grieves His heart.

2.  God Favors the Righteous

     (Genesis 6:8-21)

Noah was a faithful man whose life backed up his faith causing him
     to find favor with God.

3.  Noah Believed and Obeyed God

     (Genesis 6:22 - 7:5)

The ark that spared his life was a testament to Noah's faith.
