FAMILY THEME: THE GOSPEL DEMANDS TO BE SHARED

Matthew 28:18-20 ; Acts 1:6-11 ; Romans 10:8-17

Sharing the Gospel is an essential part of being a disciple of Jesus.

1.  Sharing the Gospel is Worship

     (Matthew 28:18-20)

To worship God properly requires declaring His glory and
calling others to recognize Him as God.

2.  Sharing the Gospel is Our Purpose

     (Acts 1:6-11)

Taking the gospel to the ends of the earth requires us to
     work together.

3.  Sharing the Gospel is Essential

     (Romans 10:8-17)

It is good news to know God will save everyone who
     calls on Jesus.

FAMILY THEME: THE GOSPEL IS POWERFUL

Romans 1:16-17 ; Galatians 3:1-14, 23-29 ;

1 Corinthians 1:18 - 2:5

In order to faithfully share the gospel, disciples of Jesus must be
confident in the power of the gospel to save the lost.

1.  The Gospel is Infused With the Nature and Power of God

     (Romans 1:16-17)

There is supernatural power in the gospel message to
cause people to see their need for Jesus.

2.  The Gospel Transcends All Boundaries

     (Galatians 3:1-14, 23-29)

God's desire is that all people be saved. He has designed
everyone to worship and be satisfied by Him.

3.  The Gospel Empowers Our Efforts as We Share It With Others

     (1 Corinthians 1:18 - 2:5)

Since the power of the gospel comes from God's nature,
its effectiveness is not contingent upon our abilities.

FAMILY THEME: THE CONSEQUENCES OF DISOBEDIENCE

2 Kings 25:1-21

Sin seems to promise so much! We can have pleasure, position,
prosperity, and power without God. But sin will always eventually
leave you and those you love empty-hearted and empty-handed.

1.  Disobedience Eventually Results in Consequences

     (2 KIngs 25:1-5)

Zedekiah thought he could resist and run from God's judment.
     He was wrong!

2.  Disobedience Results in Personal Pain

     (2 Kings 25:6-7 , 18-21)

Zedekiah witnessed the death of his sons and heard of the
destruction of Jerusalem. He would later hear of the execution
of his court of servants. All of these people who were encouragers
and helpers to him were gone.

3.  Disobedience Results in Bondage and Destruction.

     (2 Kings 25:8-17)

Zedekiah could not have estimated the cost of disobedience
to himself and his people. We never have a good sense of
     how much sin costs us.

FAMILY THEME: FAITHFULLY SERVING IN GOD'S POWER

2 Kings 2:1-15

Faithfulness isn't easy, but it certainly has its benefits. As Elijah prepared for
his journey to Heaven, his successor in ministry, Elisha, refused to be separated
from him and was faithful to the elderly prophet and his ministry.

1.  Faithful Servants Remain Faithful to the End

     (2 KIngs 2:1-8)

Both Elijah and Elisha demonstrated faithfulness.

2.  Faithful Servants Desire God's Power in Order to Accomplish His Will

     (2 Kings 2:9-12)

God equips us to serve Him.

3.  Faithful Servants Take Up the Work God Assigns Them

     (2 Kings 2:13-15)

FAMILY THEME: THE ARMOR OF GOD

Ephesians 6:10-20

We do not have a flesh and blood enemy; Christians instead are at war with
rulers of darkness and the deception of the Devil. Because of the spiritual
armor God has provided for us, we can stand in strength.

1.  We Are Involved in a Spiritual Warfare and Need to Arm Ourselves With
the Power and Armor of God

     (Ephesians 6:10-13)

We must realize that we are at war on a spiritual level, against Satan
    and sin.

2.  We Can Stand Against Satan's Attacks, Clothed in the Spiritual Armor
     God Has Given Us

     (Ephesians :14-17)

God has given us the tools we need to fight the fight He has called us to.

3.  Prayer Should Be a Regular and Faithful Practice for Christian Soldiers

     (Ephesians 6:18-20)

Prayer is one of the strongest weapons the Christian has to use in
     spiritual warfare.
