THE GREATEST MISSION
 
Matthew 28:16-20; Luke 24:44-49
 
Prior to His ascension, Jesus explained the church's primary
mission.

1.  Go With Christ's Authority (Matthew 28:16-18)

     When we do what Jesus commands, we do it with all the

     authority of Heaven and earth behind us.

 
2.  Go to All Nations  (Matthew 28:19-20)     

     We are to make disciples wherever God sends us.

 
3.  Go With Power From on High (Luke 24:44-49) 

     Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to empower

     them as they carried out His mission.

FAMILY THEME:  JUDGMENT

THERE'S A GREAT DAY COMING!
 
Matthew 25:31-46
 
Jesus taught His disciples of a coming day of judgment.

1.  Expect Christ to Judge Us All (Matthew 25:31-33)

     At judgment, Jesus will separate the redeemed (sheep)

     from the unsaved (goats).

 
2.  Care for the Oppressed and Be Blessed  (Matthew 25:34-40)     

     While good works do not save us, they are the fruit of our

     relationship with Jesus Christ, and He will notice them.

 
3.  Ignore the Oppressed and Be Cursed (Matthew 25:41-46) 

     The consequence of ignoring Christ in this lifetime is

     eternal punishment.

GET READY, HE'S COMING BACK
 
Matthew 24:1-44
 
In this chapter, Jesus taught about the destruction of the temple and
His second coming.

1.  Great Disasters and Extensive Evangelism (Matthew 24:1-14)

     The disciples were warned that they would become victims of 

     persecution because of their association with Jesus.

 
2.  Abomination and Deception  (Matthew 24:15-28)     

     The distress and deception will be unimaginable with some even

     claiming to be the Messiah. 

 
3.  Expect the Unexpected (Matthew 24:29-44) 

     Trying to find specific dates for end time events is fool-hardy.

FAMILY THEME:  MARRIAGE

GOD'S DESIGN FOR MARRIAGE
 
Matthew 19:1-12
 
In answering a question about divorce, Jesus taught powerful truths
about marriage.

1.  Marriage is for a Lifetime: Stick With It! (Matthew 19:1-6)

     Since it is God who joins a man and woman together in marriage,

     no one should try to break the relationship apart. 

 
2.  Divorce Should Be a Rare Exception: Avoid It!  (Matthew 19:7-9)     

     Divorce was never God's design for marriage; it is another product

     of mankind's fall into sin. 

 
3.  Singleness Makes Room for Kingdom Service: Embrace It!

     (Matthew 18:28-35)    

     Those who choose to remain single are no less valuable than those

     who marry.
